IMPROVED FIRE PROTECTION

Fanita Ranch was designed with the latest in fire preparedness and prevention technologies for improved community safety.

SAFETY IS OUR FIRST PRIORITY

In San Diego County, fire will always have a presence. We have to be prepared, by putting strong fire prevention measures in place and being prepared in case the worst happens. That’s why Fanita Ranch goes beyond what’s required to maximize safety for new homes, future residents and all of Santee.

Ignition-resistant building materials and landscaping will be used to keep fire from encroaching into neighborhoods, and every home will be outfitted with fire sprinklers just in case. Large buffer zones of managed vegetation will create fuel breaks and defensible space around homes.

Safety is our foremost priority, and our in-depth planning reflects that.

COMPREHENSIVE EVACUATION PLANNING

Every fire is different. When evacuation becomes the safest and best option, it’s vital that communities are prepared, and that infrastructure is in place to move people and property to safety quickly.

The evacuation plan for Fanita Ranch will be promoted and communicated to residents regularly, with workshops and information constantly available so everyone is prepared.

Expanded roads leading to Fanita Ranch ensure public safety officials can move equipment and personnel rapidly to fight fire. And if needed, added lanes of traffic give incident managers flexibility to adapt when the circumstances of a fire change and evacuation becomes the safest option.

BUFFER ZONES & VEGETATION MANAGEMENT

By regularly thinning or removing vegetation around new neighborhoods, the chances of embers or flames spreading to homes is reduced.

These wildfire protection buffers, or fuel management zones, exceed strict local and state requirements in some cases and are regularly inspected. The managed areas provide emergency responders defensible space to work, preventing fire from spreading to neighborhoods.
